The Freak Zone, BBC 6 Music, This Sunday, 18:00 - 20:00.

If anyone enjoyed my interview with Stuart Maconie on The Freak Zone back in March this year, you may be interested to know that I've returned as Mr Maconie's guest this week. Stuart will be playing a few tracks from the new D.D. Denham album and we'll be chatting about how Cafe Kaput came to exist, broken tape recorders and home made jam (possibly).

Other topics of conversation include The Advisory Circle, of course, and we'll be playing the brand new piece 'Warm Air', from the Revised Edition of Belbury Poly's 'Farmer's Angle'.

You can listen on your radio, or on the web. There's also a 'listen again' feature available all next week, for those who can't tune in on Sunday at 18:00.

More details (including a tracklisting) here.

EDIT: If you didn't manage to tune in at the time, you can Listen Again, all this week - here.

  1. If anything i'll be keen on hearing about the jam!... I now have haunting memories of childhood breakfasts consisting of Lemon curd and 'Roses' Lemon and Lime marmalade! ;) Great stuff Jon.. Will be listening.

  2. Kev, sorry to potentially disappoint, but the home-made jam comment was just a bit of a quip, off the top of my head ;)). Glad you brought up the subject of preserves, though, as Rose's Lemon & Lime marmalade was indeed a childhood favourite of mine... and, I have to say, still is.

There's not enough jam in music these days. I'm here to do something about that. ;))

  3. Yep..the next TAC album should consist of a track using samples from old 70's Robinsons jam adverts... Perhaps with the voice of Dennis Horden listing all the types of preserves in the world.. Marvellous.
