Walk out to winter.

Been quite a year! Thanks to all who bought my releases this year - '52' was a roaring success (hopefully we'll have a new edition of it in 2015) and it looks as though 'From Out Here' is similarly finding its' way into peoples lives also. It was great to get all the positive feedback via Twitter, from those who have bought copies - either showing them off in photos, reviewing the albums, or sending messages of encouragement.

My friends at Boomkat asked me to do an end of year top 10 - if you haven't seen it already, it's over here. There have been so many good releases this year; the only way I could keep it to a top 10 was to (literally) drop names into a hat and pick them out. My favourite vinyl release was the Suzanne Ciani 'Liberator' 7" on Finders Keepers, which was a complete surprise to me, after only having heard the short version on Lixiviation (and playing it probably thousands of times)... and of course, Suzanne Ciani has been a great influence on my own work for some time now.

Fran Reed also featured in my chart this year. Her debut album 'Soop Kitchen' is perfect for winter listening, as it's a collection of fuzzy, warm, unfolding drones that colour your surroundings in a playfully curious way. Very subtle work that rewards a deep listen, it's an album to be enjoyed slowly, on a cold day, probably in your kitchen. You can find it here for $7.

And with that, it's time to pull the shutters down and wish everyone the best for the season. See you in 2015.

The Advisory Circle - 'From Out Here' released today.

A proud moment. From Out Here is out there today. Thanks to Jim and Ju for letting me make another record. It's all happening over at the Ghost Box Shop today.

Two of my favourite sound sources on the album came from an old cooking timer and pair of scissors. See if you can spot them on the record.

Available Now: Jon Brooks - Shapwick (download edition)

Did you miss out on Shapwick originally? Or maybe you'd like to buy someone you know a copy? Well, now's your chance. Released digitally for the first time, from the original analogue master tapes and with included artwork (with kind permission of Clay Pipe Music).

In other news, Clay Pipe Music have got some very fine prints and record bags in their shop. Fresh from the oven.
